Yesterday, for yet another day, there were multiple traffic accidents on the roads of Oahu. Most of us saw them as an inconvenience to us on our way to whatever keeps us busy. How many of us Christians saw it as a call to prayer?
All good and perfect things come from the Father. While some good might come from an accident, I think we would all agree that the accidents themselves are not good! They come from the demonic forces at work in Hawaii. (See Ephesians 6:12.) Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world, so we have the right and the responsibility to overcome the forces of darkness which cover our streets and highways.
We can and should pray for the people involved in all accidents whenever we see them or hear about them. But we can be proactive too. We can do our part to avoid accidents.
This is actually a two-fold process for each of us. First, we can intercede with spiritual warfare for our roads. We can resist the devil on behalf of the roads of Hawaii. We can pray a hedge of protection around them. Pick a day to add the roads of Hawaii to your prayer journal. Pray something like this:
“Lord, I know you care about all aspects of life, so I come to you to intercede for the streets and highways of Hawaii. Send ministering angels to ease the troubles that cause the accidents, Lord. Put a hedge of protection across this state.
“And devil, I resist you in the name of Jesus. By the blood of Jesus, I declare victory over you. I bind you from our streets and highways.”
And then, pray about your own driving behavior!
Most Christians don’t drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but do you drive distracted? Are you always in a rush because you have too much on your plate? Do you drive under the influence of anger? Are you trying to hold a phone in one hand while you drive? You may have never been involved in an accident yourself, but you cannot know if your erratic driving might add to someone else’s frustration. You certainly wouldn’t want to be a contributing factor in an accident.
If you aren’t driving carefully and cautiously, pray about your attitude. Ask God to show you why you are adding to the problem, not the solution. Learn how to find peace, even in pau hana traffic!
All the Christians of Hawaii should be doing these two things, interceding for our roads and changing their own attitude. If we do, we can change our state for God! |
