On Sunday, January 7, more than four thousand people from more than four hundred churches gathered statewide for the second annual Statewide Prayer Watch. Worshipers on Oahu gathered at the Aloha Stadium. The event started with worship by “Voices In Praise,” an ensemble of worship leaders from five different churches. Christy and Bethany Sumida from Grace Bible Church West Oahu performed an interpretational sign language dance to “If My People Pray.” After the opening prayer, the shofar was blown. Lt. Governor “Duke” Aiona gave a short introductory address, Andrale Domligan presented the scripture declaration, and the Lighthouse Fellowship did a special dramatization of “We Need God in America.” The prayers included a prayer for repentance and one of thanksgiving, prayers for pastors, churches, families, and our government, prayer for the military, the education system, and local businesses. An offering was taken during a musical interlude, and the program concluded with prayers for the poor & homeless, hospitals & mental institutions, police & firefighters, prisons, communications-media, and a special prayer of spiritual warfare. The event closed out with a call for salvation and a musical worship celebration, but the prayer goes on.
Plans are already underway for next year’s prayer watch. If you would like to donate your time or money to prayer for our state, please contact Pastor Virginia Domligan at the Prayer Center of the Pacific, 456.PRAY or prayercenterpacific@hawaii.rr.com. |
